About Us
Smithills Open Farm is a family‑run working farm and visitor attraction set across 70 acres of countryside just north of Bolton. It blends traditional farming with a broad mix of animal encounters — from cows, sheep, goats and pigs to llamas, alpacas, owls, reptiles and other more exotic residents. Visitors can get hands‑on in “Pets Corner,” feed lambs and calves, meet zoo‑zone animals, or watch the cows being milked in a working dairy setup. For extra fun there are tractor‑and‑trailer rides, donkey rides, indoor and outdoor play areas including a large playground for children, soft‑play zones and toy tractors. The farm caters to families, birthday parties, school groups and day‑visitors alike, offering a cafe, picnic spots and a shop selling farm‑fresh produce. With regular seasonal events and a constantly evolving animal population, Smithills Open Farm promises an engaging, educational and fun day out for all ages.
